  1. Growing up I would hear story's about this swimming hole. My Grandma grew up here and and my great Cousin still lives there and before the area was flooded destroying most of the land, they would say that this was the deepest part of the eel river. My Great Uncle would tell us story about how they would send divers out there to find the bottom only for them to come back and say that they couldn't reach the bottom that it was to deep. I remember many of our visits to my Uncles was spent down at the river swimming. It was nice to see some great pics of the area it has been a while since I have been back there. Don't let the pictures deceive you from water to top of cliff it is close to 15 or more story's at the highest part per my Great Uncle.

  2. It is INSANELY DEEP,I went out with a mask and snorkel to free five down hoping to see bottom, and the pressure was insane and it was a pitch black abyss,I got hella creeped out and bailed back to shore..I can sense the extreme depth of that stretch of river...😶😬This was literally yesterday, July 28th..Still cant even think of reaching bottom....

  3. Not too far upstream is another deep hole called High Rock. Park at the pull-out by the CCC camp on Avenue of the Giants and hike down. Thirtyish feet deep. Much more interesting hole.
