This is the south fork of the Yuba River, where it crosses highway 49 (about 10 miles north of Nevada City) Hike about 1 mile upstream to Hoyt's Crossing. This swimming hole is about 1/2 mile beyond that. Getting down to the water from the trail requires a little scrambling and climbing down a steel cable. So it's not for everyone. Have fun!
I'm trying to find an exact spot. This is what I've found so far. http://goo.gl/maps/hBJXa Would appreciate if anybody knows how to get to the spot on the picture.
Pick up your cigarette butts, trash, dog poop -respect our sacred river. oh....and park correctly...if you're on or over the white line your car may get towed
Hello idiot, I'm not from the bay area, but I'd like to know what makes a person so much more deserving of this spot when hearing about it through word of mouth instead of the internet.
How do I find this place, good sir?

What's the water temp like? When's the best time to go?
ReplyDeleteAlso, how crazy is this climbing down the cable? I have a friend with a big sense of adventure, a love for water, and not so good knees...
